How do I change record numbers in an Access database?

I use Access to manage a membership list of several thousand people. The record numbers have always matched the membership number for convenience until I stuffed up when trying to remove a members details (I deleted their 'record' which threw all subsequent memberhip numbers out of whack).

So, when I now list the members, the membership numbers appear as 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 4, 8, 9. while the member numbers continue to appear in their correct order (ie 1 through to 9).

In this situation, how can I change the record numbers - without changing the member numbers?

Or should I just change the member numbers?How do I change record numbers in an Access database?
I assume the record number bares some kind relevance to your program. Because normally you would not drive your logic by the record number but rather by the unique key.. in your case membership number.

First I would sort membership number in ascending sequence. Close and reopen the table and if this is the primary key it should sort itself out.

Hope it helpsHow do I change record numbers in an Access database?
Why on earth use a different member number field? The whole idea of an auto-number field is to be the key field of the table. You are now better to re-write the system to use the key field in stead. Then remove the unneeded field. It is better never to delete an entry from any database, for complex use it can leave serious data inconsistencies. You should have a boolean or integer field to use as empty or 0 for valid entries, and on or number 1 for an obsolete entry. This way it is always available to link to other tables without breaking any queries or code, even if the member is no longer valid. Your queries can read only entries with the or empty value.

  • Changing home of record in the navy.?

    I've been in the Navy for almost 10 years, and I'm going to reenlist for another 4 years. I've been told conflicting stories about changing the %26quot;home of record%26quot;. One person has explained to me that it can only be changed when a person reenlists. However, I've been told by someone else that the %26quot;home of record%26quot; can never be changed. I have changed my %26quot;state of legal residence%26quot; to the state I intend on retiring too, but I'm wanting to change my home of record.Changing home of record in the navy.?
    Your home of record is the place to which the military will pay travel and transportation allowances if you are honorably discharged prior to retirement. Since that's where they brought you from, that's the place they'll use to figure out how much (maximum) they'll pay to return you.

    They don't allow changes, because if they did everyone would choose Hawaii and get huge travel allowances. Think about it. If you're planning to do 20 and retire, you get %26quot;home of selection%26quot; entitlements anyway, so your home of record doesn't matter.

    You can change your state of domicile according to the traditional rules (presence in the state combined with intent to make it your permanent home...again, no picking Hawaii unless you're there).

    The Joint Federal Travel Regulation governs this. See page 17 of the attached file.

    Restaurant managers changing time records?

    I work for a corporate owned restaurant. I was wondering if it is against the law for the managers to change your time record back to 40 hours if you work more than 40 hours, so you don't have overtime. Also, is it againt the law for the managers to go back into your tips claimed and change it so you are claiming at least minimum wage?Restaurant managers changing time records?
    I am not sure about the tips as I have never worked in the service industry, but it is illegal for anyone to change your time card to deduct time actually worked. If we're talking about 7 or 8 minutes, then yes, they can change that to the nearest hour. If we're talking about 30 minutes or an hour, then no, they can not change that especially if you were approved to be working during that period. If you do not get satisfaction from your manager when you ask him about it, go over his head. If you have no other recourse, contact your local labor board for information on labor laws or to file a complaint.Restaurant managers changing time records?
    Everyone knows that changing the time cards is illegal. Sounds like your boss is trying to hide his payroll. Every corporate or franchise restaurant has a head office you can call. I went through this when I worked at perkins in florida. My GM took money we were suppose to use for a washer and dryer and brought in her own from home. And put the new ones in her house!...Ended up sending information to corporate headquarters...she went to jail...and I found myself another job.

    If you need help finding your companies headquarters or how to do it without currently getting fired email me... I can help.

    dreamventrious@yahoo.comRestaurant managers changing time records?
    Yes both are illegal. The only way for you to prove your time is to keep all of you time slips. If you have not done this then you are out of luck for past incidents, but remember to keep them for future. About the tips, remember it is also illegal to claim less than 100% of your tip income at the end of your shift. They are doing this to save money. Many places have policies that require them to pay you at least minimum wage if you don't make enough in tips and others are required to by law. If they really are claiming more than you made then I would make issue of it otherwise let it go. Remember to fight for your rights, but do so effectively. You do not want to end up out of a job because you blew the whistle without cause. If they keep this up after you confront them you can contact your local labor board to have them investigate.Restaurant managers changing time records?
    Both are against the law, report them. Screw them corporate bastards.Restaurant managers changing time records?
    yea sucksRestaurant managers changing time records?
    yes its illegal that's not right you worked over 40 hours i never under stood some restaurants i've worked in if i was @ 39 hours they wont let me work anymore that week because they didn't wanna pay me the time and a half ohhh its like ok buddy you pay me 2 dollars an hour its gonna hurt you to pay me 9 dollars xtra if i work 3 hours over and as far as changing your tips yes that's illegal to but her restaurant managers a sleazy to the workers

    When teachers put in a grade for a report, are they then able to change it? Will it change for record aswell?

    My teacher has just recently given me a C (76%) for an English class for a missing assignment that after-school I had informed her that I had turned in late, and she does not have it. She told me that my grade is now an B+ (86%) and that she will change it. But is that actually possible? Can she change the grade on the computer, and will that grade change on my permanent record too? Or was she lying to me?When teachers put in a grade for a report, are they then able to change it? Will it change for record aswell?
    Not lying at all. We teachers are human, after all, and mistakes are sometimes made. Schools' grading systems are set up to account for this. Generally, all a teacher has to do is fill out a %26quot;change of grade%26quot; form, turn it in to office personnel, and that's it.

    I recommend waiting two weeks, and then checking to see if the grade has been changed on your official records. If it hasn't been, ask the teacher about it -- but please, try to do so politely. If a mistake was made, the odds are it was made by someone else (like some office flunky losing the form).When teachers put in a grade for a report, are they then able to change it? Will it change for record aswell?
    Yes, she can change it.

    When a musician changes his record label who keeps the rights to sell the music?

    The musician or the record label?When a musician changes his record label who keeps the rights to sell the music?
    More than likely, everything that was recorded while the artist was under contract with record label A is owned by record label A even if was never released, unless record label B buys the songs from label A. Every new song the artist records after the switch belongs to label B. In rare cass when the artist is powerfull enough to keep ownership of his music he can take it with him where ever he is signed because he alone owns it....this is extremely rare!When a musician changes his record label who keeps the rights to sell the music?
    Depends on the contract. Its usually the label but the musician does get royalties..When a musician changes his record label who keeps the rights to sell the music?

    Changing a record player needle...?

    I have one of those old school HUUUUGE record players-in-a-cabinet. I need to change the needle to it and I believe I have the right one (looks identical to the old needle...but not 100% sure...). So my question is, should it be pretty easy to change the needle if it is, in fact, the right one? Do I just pull it out...and push the new one in...or do I need to rotate anything...or what?Changing a record player needle...?
    I'm dating myself with this answer but it is something anyone over 35 yrs old had to do quite often and take them out and clean them.

    The fact is that most of these needles didn't need to be replaced for a long time but cleaning them with a dry toothbrush extended the life quite nicely.

    They typically snap in place, you have to lift the arm straight up, a snap lid often covered the tip of the arm, once you lift it the lid, the needle comes out stray towards you.

    Some other models you just grab the needle pull it down gently until it unsnap from the pressure holder and stick the new in the same way.

    Slide the new needle in 'till it clicks in, close the lid and listen to your old 45's.Changing a record player needle...?
    Yes, that is how ya do it. Kudos to you for being able to find one. Wish I had a record player.

    LOL, when I was in high school I must have 100 demerits---I was late practically every day---and I had no trouble getting into college. I don't think demerits are actually placed on your transcript, they are just for the high school.

    Is there a way to automaticly record changes made to a website?

    I am currently making a site for my job, its a spanish translation to the one they already have. My boss wants it to always be up-to-date and almost in sync to the original. I dont want to search for the changes on 100 pages and the other web designers incharge of the english site dont want to type it in a %26quot;change log%26quot;. So therefor I need an automatic way to know if anything has changed in any of the sites. Any suggestions?

    I have FTP access to the english site, so if there is a script or program that needs to write the change log in the original site, there is no problem with that.Is there a way to automaticly record changes made to a website?
    The easiest thing would be to compare the file modification dates of the English page and its Spanish counterpart.

    For example, if you know that the Spanish index.html page you made on May 1, 2007 at 3:40 p.m. was an exact copy of the English index.html page available at that time, then if the English index.html page ever has a modification or creation date after May 1, 2007 at 3:40 p.m., then you know the English page, in all likelihood, is no longer the same as the Spanish page.

    You can check file mod dates through any of the popular scripting languages: PHP, ASP.NET, JSP, etc. For example, in PHP, you'd do something like this:

    $en =%26quot;en/index.html%26quot;;

    $sp = %26quot;sp/index.html%26quot;;

    $entime = time();

    $sptime = $entime;

    if(file_exists($en) {

    $entime = filectime($en);

    }

    if(file_exists($sp) {

    $entime = filectime($sp);

    }

    if($sp %26lt; $en) {

    echo %26quot;English file [$en] has been modified since last Spanish file [$sp] update!%26quot;;

    }

    You could even write a simple dll / executable that could check this for you once a day and send you an e-mail of all changed page URLs.

    Finally, it makes a lot of sense, if you are going to have mutli-language content, to change your site to pull text and other language-sensitive information from a DB. Then, you just need to track when there needs to be a change of Spanish from English via the DB; you could track that with a simple trigger.Is there a way to automaticly record changes made to a website?
    if you have FTP access, you should be able to view the date that the page was modified. the easiest way to notice if something has been changed is to check for that on a daily basis.

    Just wondering, as i intend to buy a house next year and want the best possible credit score.

    At the mo ive got a loan and a credit card, which makes your credit score lower right?

    Anyone know anything about it? And how long does it remain on your credit record and effect your score?How long after paying off a loan or credit card, does your credit record change?
    Having a loan and credit card balance may not lower your score.

    It's a whole picture sort of thing ... basically your plus money (income)

    vs your minus (debts) and what you've got in the bank and how well

    you pay your bills - they like to see you pay consistently and on time

    not always paying everything off (besides a balance makes them money) How long it takes to change a credit score ? don't know but

    I'm sure like everything else a negative probably shows up faster than a positive ---- and good luck on your home purchase !How long after paying off a loan or credit card, does your credit record change?
    No, having a loan and a credit card doesn't lower your score. As long as you pay them on time, they will build your credit score.

    It is best not to carry balances on your credit card. Use it and pay it in full every month. This will give you more good payment history -- the longer the good history, the better the score.

    If you only have these two items on your credit report, you might want to get another major credit card to expand the number of tradelines. Use the card for small purchases every month and pay in full.

    Many other factors go into consideration for a home loan. Your employment history, salary, debt to income ratio, assets like saving/IRA/401K, and downpayment.

    If you are not already doing so, put a set amount in a savings account every payday toward the downpayment and closing costs.

    What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?

    In 2006 my status was S-0 and some how someone changed it to S-2. I for sure did not change it. Now, i had to pay taxes due to the employers fault. i understand that i received the money, but is there a way for the the company to face a consequence?What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    Unfortunately the employer is not liable. Its your responsibility to make sure that your employer is taking the correct amount of taxes each pay day.

    You need to fill out a new W-4 form and submit it to your payroll department. Keep an eye on your paychecks and make sure they are deducting all your taxes correctly.

    I feel for you. Sorry.What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    What is s-0 and s-2?What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    Sorry, your taxes are your business. You receive regular paychecks, and it is your responsibility to insure that the correct amounts are withheld. In fact, if for some reason your employer is unable to withhold taxes for your situation then you are responsible for paying estimated taxes on a periodic basis to IRS or state revenue department. It is a hard lesson, but finances, and especially taxes are something to be careful with.What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    I assume you're talking about your W-4, and it was changed from Single/0 to Single/2? In any case, you've received the money. If it was done without your consent, your employer has violated the law, but prosecution is unlikely. If you had to pay an estimated tax penalty, you'd have a better chance forcing your employer to repay that in small claims court.

    If you REALLY want to be withheld as Single/0, you can request your employer to change the status to Single/0 with additional withholding, so that your total withholding for the year matches what it would have been if you had filed Single/0 for the entire year. (A payroll calculator such as paycheckcity.com will help estimate what the effect would be.)What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    Tough.

    File a new W-4 NOW.

    Pay what you owe and get it over with.

    Join the company 401k, and lower your taxable income, while gaining matching company funds.What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    No. Regardless of a mistake on withholding, you owe the tax. This is why you should review your withholding on your pay stubs during the year.What if the employer changed my status without my consent and has no record of anyone changing it?
    No, the responsibility is yours, even if it was a mistake by someone else. Didn't you notice when your takehome pay suddenly went UP even though you didn't get a raise?

    You got extra money in your paycheck, so haven't paid in what you owe, so you have to pay it now.

    What are the legal and ethical implications of changing a medical record?

    It depends on why it was changed. Change it to make it more accurate - okay. Change it to hide malpractice - not okay, fraud.

    What are the legal and ethical implications of changing a medical record?
    Legal: it's considered fraud and will land you in serious trouble

    Ethical: it depends, but in most cases I would consider it unethical.What are the legal and ethical implications of changing a medical record?
    Changing a medical record can be a very serious offense. As was said it is definitely fraud. If a doctor does it they can lose there license, and my not be able to practice medicine. If a non doctor does it im sure the authorities can file charges. Changing a medical record is not something to play with. Insurance companies can get involved as well as the law. Either way there is no positive outcome from it. Ethically, it is wrong, for obvious reasons. Honesty is always the best answer.

    How would I find a name change record?

    How would I find out if a name was changed when an ancestor of mine came over from Germany in the 1800's. Tomschin is not a very common name and I would like to see how far I can trace it back.How would I find a name change record?
    There are several websites which will be helpful. A good place to start is Cyndi's List. There is a entire page dedicated to Germany/Deutschland resources and links. http://www.cyndislist.com/germany.htm

    Then there is A Collection of Favorite German Russian Sites at http://www.ahsgr.org/links.htm

    and German Roots at German Roots/German Genealogy at http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/

    Finally, there are the Ships and Passenger Lists at http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/passengHow would I find a name change record?
    I checked on the German version of Ancestry but it has no info regarding the meaning or history of the name Tomschin. However, the name is still found in Germany with the highest incidence occurring around Berlin.

    In order to search the German records effectively you need to know not only which village they came from but also what religion they were. The civil registers only start in 1800 before that you have to go to the church archives and those are written in Latin.

    What software do you recommend for changing sounds I record on my computer?

    So, if I record a song through Audacity, what program can I load that song onto, highlight a selected area, and then change the original sound? Example: I record a song using audacity and its just an organ sound, but I want to highlight the selected sound and convert it to a strings sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated!What software do you recommend for changing sounds I record on my computer?
    All sound that you record are flat... that means the binary data can't be morphed into something else. They are just that.

    What you need are samples. There are a lot of samples free or payed of various instruments that can be looped and mixed the way you want. That's how the pros do it with only some pros having equipment to produce their own samples.

    If it would be possible to do what you need with a program, I doubt those people would go through all the trouble to invest in expensive equipment.

    Is it necessary to change the A record when changing the name servers that will be hosting my domain?

    I've registerd a domain name with Godaddy and I'm having the website that will be using that domain name hosted elsewhere. The person I'm hosting the website with is telling me i not only have to change the name servers but I also need to change the A record. Why is it necessary to change the A record. I've had other people host my sites on their name servers and have never had to change the A record. Could there be any malicious reasoning behind this?

    BobIs it necessary to change the A record when changing the name servers that will be hosting my domain?
    I don't think it's malicious. It appears that the person in question doesn't know DNS very well. Changing the domain's name servers gives more control over your domain compared to changing a single A record. Although, as long as you don't give that person registrar access to your domain, there's nothing to worry about at all.

    How do you operate an old record changing turntable?

    I just got a 1951 Emerson Am radio/phonograph. I don't have a manual. The radio works great. The turntable turns at 3 different speeds. It has a record changing system that I can't figure out how to operate.How do you operate an old record changing turntable?
    It should have a tone arm, which has the needle and a kind of brace that balances the record above the turntable.

    You can play one record by putting it on the turntable, and either moving the tone arm by hand and setting it down gently, or by setting the record on the turntable, and turn the knob past the start position to the change position and the tone arm will lift up, and move to the first track of the record and start playing.

    If you want to use the record changer, you can position several records on the spindle, there's a catch that holds the center up, and move the brace over the records, and set it down. It will hold the records steady, until you're ready. Turn the knob to change, whatever they called it past the on or start position, and the first record will drop, the tone arm will move over and start to play. When it finishes the last track on that side, the tone arm automatically lifts and moves back, and the second record drops, and the tone arm comes back to the first track and starts again.

    I'm guessing you know about the speeds, they should be on the records, but the smaller ones are usually 45, the 12 inch ones are 33 1/3, and if you have 10 inch ones they are probably 78s, be real careful with those, they're made of wax and break easily.
